7/2
We got up early today to go to the market. On the drive there, we saw that the circus was in town!
We arrive in Apt, and as expected it is another simply charming village.
On our way to the market!
Soaps, fragrances, and oils are all major exports of Provence.
The stall where I bought some cinnamon for the pie I'll be making tonight.
The market in Apt is enormous, it winds down street after street after street.
"Flower Honey."
The French love their baskets.
I thought this was a fantastic little design -- they're baskets with mesh covers that pull over to keep the bugs off your food.
After I took a picture of this particular spice shop, the guy told me not to take any more. Oopla.
Pile of garlic, anyone?
I wanted to get that book in the middle but it was 45€ alas...
GIANT bouquet of flowers!
All the doors down this section of the road had the door handles in the middle of the door...
Apt was gorgeous, and nearly every shop was offering samples, of which you were expected to try one of everything. So many spreads and jams and dipping oils... I was in heaven. We stayed for only an hour but even then I had to refrain from spending all my money! Molly, I got you something. :)
Later on the agenda for today: A delicious lunch, then an art history lesson at the château, and dinner (of which we étudiants are going to cook!
