7/1
After lunch we had our art lesson, and then we drove to a wee African dance/recital. It was put on by this school of dance, where the students range from small children to adults. It was also a sort of charity organization, where a good portion of the students were mentally disabled. I must say, the students with mental problems were the happiest, most enthusiastic dancers of the bunch. They were absolutely beaming the entire time, and you couldn't help but smile along with them, and feel so privileged to just be a part of their joy.
So jealous of this mug. It takes everything I have in me to resist smuggling it into my luggage.
Speaking of luggage, they found mine! They said they're going to deliver it today -- fingers crossed -- between 11 and 1. Of course, Chandri said the times they give are often inaccurate, so we'll see. :P
The art lesson begins, and I thought it was kind of awesome that Julia had clipped her permanent marker to her zipper pull. Artists. :)
Painting with oils!
Relaxing before we head into town.
This is what I love about France: You'll be driving down the road, minding your own business, when suddenly you look up and BAM! There's a CASTLE. A legit CASTLE... just THERE. You just can't have that sort of experience in America.
We arrive in the town with the African dancing performance! Unfortunately we left later than we intended to so we didn't get a chance to wander the streets.
This was their school. SO AWESOME.
Their open-air theater. In France, when they're talking about something that takes place outdoors, it's called "en plein air" or "in full air."
One of the students jams before the performance begins.
First dance, with all the students!
This girl was my favourite. She poured her heart and soul into this performance and danced the entire evening with full abandon.
They saw me taking a picture of them up on the balcony. :)
Dancing to Shakira's "Waka Waka."
Dancing to Lady GaGa's "Starstruck" -- ever so authentically African. :P
...and then Orlando Bloom came out and serenaded us. No big deal.
Seriously, this is like his clone in younger form.
Emma said if Orlando Bloom and a Filipino had a child, this would be him. I agreed.
