Happy Fourth of July!
We really just lounged around today. I mean July 4th is just another day here in France, but we dedicated it to a day of rest.
First of all, here's some eye candy:
This is the our town château, with the battlements running all the way down the hill. The spire near the left is the church.
On our walk up to do some painting, we met an adorable little puppy who was ever so excited to greet us.
Walking up to the lake on the other side of the hill, we discovered a fig tree with ripe figs! We ate several and they were delicious; later I went back and picked a whole bunch.
Catfish in the lake!

The château + lake.
This was on the way back to the fig tree to pick a bunch.
I know I said today was a day of rest, but let's be honest we all know I can hardly sit still here in France; there's just so much to do and see that lounging in the house all day feels like such a waste of possible adventures! So Emma and I went on a run. And on the way back we found an apple tree and picked two of the most delicious apples EVER.
And then when we came back, Avery announced that the wee market shop in town sells Kinder Eggs!! So I'm sure you can guess where we went immediately after I'd showered from the run!
Heading into town to buy Kinder Eggs!
For dinner that night Audrey made this fish and mashed potato dish that was HEAVENLY. And then we ate some pudding for the Fourth; it was the least we could do. :P
